1. By creating a usable printing press, Guttenburg allowed knowledge to travel more freely around the world.  People who didn't have the option to read due to a lack of material now had growing opportunities for learning.

2. While the original intent of the printing press was for text, I believe that people were so enamored with its possibilities that it took no time for some to use it for the purpose of art.  I can imagine the excitement of being able to create multiple copies of artwork.  More copies, more money. Today, we have the option of sharing any art that we've produced with people across the world almost instantly.  The idea of getting something somewhere faster is still strong and still evolving.  The more connected we are, the more ideas get bounced around.

3.  The photocopier is the modern day printing press.  A person can make limitless copies with very little fuss.  While the idea is the same as far as making duplicates, a photocopier does not require a relief coated in ink to make a copy.  A simple sheet of paper with whatever image or text is all that is needed to make copies.
